So you’re going against the grain, taking the road less traveled, and carving out a path for yourself…
And you feel lonely like this thing might not be for you, like you’re not cut out for it…
So you got this heavy weight on your shoulders, and you’re having trouble reconciling your decision to continue…
Can I tell you something?
Don’t quit because you’re not getting the support you think you need.
Don’t stop working on your business, your art, your music, your whatever… just because those closest to you aren’t giving you the support you think you need.
If what you’re doing is important to you – DO IT.
And DON’T F*CKING STOP FOR ANYONE.
In 100 years from now, just about everyone that’s here now will be dead—including those whose opinion currently matters so much to you.
Don’t cancel your business or quit your craft just because your friends, family, or anyone close to you doesn’t support you.
Yes… you will feel unheard, unseen, unsupported, and even disrespected.
You will hear snarky comments. Some disguised as jokes.
People will doubt your ability, your persistence, your commitment.
You will have people lie about you, misrepresent who you are, and even try to sabotage your work.
But these trials will help strengthen you in ways you could never imagine.
They will prepare you for the tougher obstacles that lie ahead.
Trust me when I say that the world is full of strangers rooting for you.
Sometimes, a customer can become a better friend way faster than a friend will become a customer.
The difficult truth to accept is this:
Most people don’t want the best version of you… they want the version of you that serves them best.
How to deal with a hater?
Understand that their negativity stems from their own insecurities, not your actions.
Keep in mind the Love drives out hate verse: “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear involves punishment.”
This has more to do with you and how you carry yourself than those who are mistreating you.
The best response is to focus on what you can control: the experience happening within you, and your responses to what’s happening in your environment.
What to say to the haters?
Nothing. Your results will speak for you. If you don’t have haters, you aren’t doing something right.
How to stop haters?
You don’t. You rise above them. Their opinions have no power unless you give it to them.
How to overcome haters?
Keep moving forward. Use their doubt as fuel. Let their negativity be the backdrop to your success.
So go do what you want to do…
…and for the love of whatever you love…
DON’T F*CKING STOP.
